The submitted manuscript for publication to Science and Technology Indonesia (STI) should be original research work that high academic merit and should be contributed solely to the Science and Technology Indonesia (STI), not previously published and not under consideration for publication in the other publisher elsewhere and free from plagiarism. The manuscript that does not meet those requirements will be automatically rejected.
The submission that involves multi-author manuscript implies the consent for all the author participated. All the submitted manuscript to Science and Technology Indonesia will be peer-reviewed by at least two independent referees.
Manuscript submitted for publication in Science and Technology Indonesia should appropriate with the following criteria:
- Must be written in good English language.
- Must be within the scope of the journal.
- Must be original, have not been published elsewhere, and will not be submitted to any journal during the review process.
- Must be following the journal instructions and have correct style before being considered for reviewing process.
Preparing manuscript file
Science and Technology Indonesia accepts manuscript in the form of Research article, Review article, and short communication. As an approximate guide to length as follows:
- Research article would not normally exceed 25 pages of double-spaced A4 text.
- Review article would not normally exceed 30 pages of double-spaced A4 text.
- Short communication article would not normally exceed 15 page of double-spaced A4 text.
The manuscript must be prepared using word processing software, e.g. Microsoft Word, Open Office, Libre Office, etc, with document format doc, or docx.
Title of the manuscript must be concise and informative.
Author names and affiliation
Make sure that the author name clearly indicates the given name and family name of each author. Present the authorsâ€™ affiliation below the author names. Add a number in superscript letter after the author name and before the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the name of the authorâ€™ country and email address. Clearly provide who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication and after publication.
The abstract must be concise, factual and should state the purpose of the research, the used methods, the principal results and main conclusion briefly. Due to the abstract is occasionally presented separately from the full article, it should be able to stand alone and should not contain references. The use of non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if necessary, they must be defined as they mentioned in the abstract body.
The keyword should be provided immediately after the abstract. It provides a maximum of 6 words which is the keyword of the whole article. These keywords will be used for indexing purpose.
In order to encourage and draws more attention from the online reader, a Graphical abstract is highly recommended by the editorial. The graphical abstract should summarize the full content of the article. The graphical abstract could be submitted both with the main manuscript and as a separate file in the online submission system. The graphical abstract image should be readable with minimum size 500 x 1300 pixel (h x w) or proportionally more.
The main manuscript content
The main body of the manuscript should be provided as follows:
- Experimental Section
- Results and Discussion
Acknowledgement should be provided in a separate section at the end of the manuscript before the references. It should not include on the title page, as a footnote, or otherwise. It also should contain the list of those individuals or institution that provide help during the research.
Make sure that all the cited reference listed in the reference section and all the reference list must be cited in the article body.
Section and subsection
Section and subsection of the manuscript should be prepared in clearly defined and numbered sections. Sections should be numbered 1 (then 2, 3, ...), subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ....), etc. Abstract, acknowledgment, and reference is not included in section numbering.
Citations in the body texts should be provided in chronological order. The citation format should be prepared in name-year format and alphabetically ordered in the reference list. Make sure that every reference cited in the text is also presented in the reference list and vice versa. Unpublished results and personal communications are not acceptable. All citation of papers in the text should refer to:
- Single author: the authorâ€™s name and the year of publication (Lesbani, 2017)
- Two authors: both authorsâ€™ name and the year of publication. (Lesbani and Taher, 2017)
- Three and more authors: first authorâ€™s name followed by â€œet al.â€ and the year of publication. (Lesbani et al., 2017)
- Group of reference should be listed alphabetically, then chronologically for the same author. (Lesbani, 2017; Mohadi, 2016; Taher, 2015; 2016a,b)
- The direct citation should be provided as authors name and the year of publication in parenthetical followed by the description. i.g. Lesbani et al. (2012) have recently .....
Figure and artwork
Figure and artwork should be prepared in an acceptable format (JPEG, JPG, PNG, EPS, PDF, or MS Office files and with high enough resolution. Make sure that each figure and artwork should be numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Ensure that each figure or artwork has a caption that comprise a brief title and a description of the figure or artwork. Keep the text in the figures or art works themselves to a minimum but explain all symbol and abbreviations used.
The table should be provided as editable text and not as images. Tables could be placed in the next relevant text in the manuscript, or in the separate pages(s) at the end. Tables should be numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text and place any table notes below the table body. The use of the vertical rules and shading in the table shell should be avoided.
The math formulae provided in the text should be prepared as editable text and not as images.
The references should be written in the English language. The reference should provide author(s) name(s), journal/book title, article/chapter title, year of publication, volume number/book chapter and the pagination must be presented. If any, the use of DOI is highly encouraged.
